Important note: Follow the steps below at your risk. DO NOT attempt any repairs on your computer if you aren't comfortable working with electronics. You run the risk of shorting internal components of your computer with static discharge or power surges.

Tech Tip #1: Start With The Simple Things

  • Remember to start simple!
  • Ensure power cords are plugged in
  • Ensure cables are plugged in
  • Ensure connectors are completed plugged in

Tech Tip #2: Computer Won't Turn On

  • Check power cord. Make sure it's fully plugged into the wall and the power supply
  • Unplug power cord from power supply.
    Discharge static electricity
Disconnect power to all components, including the mother board. Leave power to fan.
Plug power cord back into power supply and press power button
If power supply turns on the power supply is good, but a component such as hard drive, CD or DVD rom, etc are bad.
Unplug again. Plug one component in and try to power up the PC.
If PC powers up that component is good.
Repeat the step above plugging in one more component at a time until all components are plugged back in. The mother board should be the last thing plugged in.
If you plug in a component and power up the PC and it doesn't come on that particular component is probably bad and needs to be replaced
If you have plugged in all the components and then plug in the mother board and PC doesn't power up, then your mother board is bad.
